The Best of the Week in... Covers (08/05/09)

On Aug 6, 2009 9:00 AM

It's always hard for us "monthly people" e.g. those who get there books from an online service like DCBS to participate in this conversation or the weekly reviews for that matter, but the cover of  X-Factor #46 is fantastic. Two girls fighting in close-up...facial expressions dead-on and did i mention that it as two hot chicks fighting? *You may now return to your regularly...

The Mighty cover reminds me of the Y The Last Man astronaut cover from a few years back...

Media Immersion Addiction: All Things in Moderation (or not)

On May 21, 2009 12:00 PM

Great article Sonia! I find that I feel the same way about LOST right now...it is so immersive and I feel the same way about it (esp. when it first started) as I did when Twin Peaks came out. Both shows are just so atypical for mainstream television (as they say: "Years ahead of their time...")  From the comedy side I did the same for Arrested Development. What a fantastic show...

New Comics for 05/06/09 are setting phasers to stun

On May 4, 2009 5:10 PM

Really looking forward to Power Girl. I cannot get enough of Amanda Connor's Art!!! The standard answer is usually Khan, I actually liked the 4th film, The Voyage Home. First Contact wasn't bad but i really don't think there should have been a 'female' Borg queen....

Lost - S05E14 - The Variable

On Apr 29, 2009 8:00 PM

OK...so some questions. Help me here anyone. The button that Desmond, and then later Locke, had to keep pushing is a button designed to release some of the energy that builds up? So when Desmond fails to push it, the energy causes the plane crash. OK, so far so good. When Locke fails to push it, Desmond pushes a fail safe button. Do you think the fail safe button casues the hydrogen bomb that ...

Comic Book Logo Design: Old-School and Reinvention

On Apr 23, 2009 12:00 PM

Great article Sonia as ever. I would like to see a study on the various incarnations of the DC Bullet Logo... Superman's logo has become the typography of any and every superhero logo...any time there is a spoof or homage to a hero...it is often times written in that "Superman style 3-D"....the brand has become synonymous with the product! Like "Kleenex" is used regardless...

Lost - S05E10 - He's Our You

On Mar 25, 2009 8:00 PM

A reply from an earlier question: my favorite season will always be Season One.  Don't get me wrong, I love Lost and it;s my favorite show, etc. etc. But to me in a way it kind of jumped the shark when it went all Time Travel and showed Smokie.... Up to those points it was mind blowing. A polar bear on a tropical island? How is that possible?...oh...an animal experiment station. Aha........

Lost - S05E08 - LaFleur

On Mar 4, 2009 8:00 PM

Wonder what is happening/happened to Rose & Bernard, etc. Do you think they went back in time as well to the 1974 Dharma part like Sawyer and Co? I don't think the baby is Ben. I thought the episode which told his back story showed him going to the island as a kid. He is not "native" born on the island and that is one reason he got the cancer in his back waaaay back when....

Lost - S05E06 - 316

On Feb 18, 2009 8:00 PM

I agree Connor. It bums me that this scenario is going to happen. I want LOST to get big viewer numbers, whether it matters in the end or not, I want shows that I like to have good numbers and do well in the ratings
