11.19.2008 - Robin #180

On Nov 19, 2008 4:10 PM

This has been a solid book for a few months now.  I am glad to see it getting some recognition.  Of course, the next logical step is to cancel it.  DC is just following that ages old formula: Step 1: Write a solid book that keeps getting better. Step 2: Make it good enough to get solid critical reviews. Step 3: Cancel the shit out of it. Step 4: ????? Step 5: Big, big profits.

Action Comics: Now with NO Superman!

On Nov 18, 2008 10:44 AM

I will be suprised if Action Comics sells 20% of what it did this month after this change takes place (unless it become Action Comics featuring Batman). I wonder if this is part of the reason Robinson's stuff has been so weak.  Maybe he knew this was coming earlier than he let on. I don't really see Adventure comics selling all that well either since the current Legion book doesn't do w...

For The Love of Hardcovers

On Nov 18, 2008 1:27 AM

"uniformity is a disease of the mind."  Well said.  I also only buy the hardcovers if it is something I feel is essential (or if someone else is buying).

Comic Books Prices: How Much is Too Much?

On Nov 13, 2008 9:00 AM

The inflation rate between 1997 and 2007 was roughly 28% (based on the Consumer Price Index which you can get at www.bls.gov/cpi ) meaning that if a book cost $2.99 in 1997 and prices rose at the rate of inflation the price in 2007 would be $3.85.  If you let it rise for the additional year (2008) it hits $3.99.  Sounds to me like comic book prices are rising at the same rate (appro...

11.12.2008 - Detective Comics #850

On Nov 13, 2008 1:36 AM

I didn't think I would live to see the day that Ron would pick a Batman book.  San Franciso must be exposing him to the seedy underbelly of humanity allowing him to get in touch with his inner Gothamite.  (It wouldn't be the first time San Fran exposed someone to something.) I can't wait to get home and read this now.  Thank you for the excitement, Ron.

iFanboy - Episode #96 - Comics From Movies

On Nov 12, 2008 3:21 PM

I have heard the the History of Violence GN is much more violent than the movie.  Specifically, the brother of the lead character is brutally disfigured in the book.  Is that correct?  I would like to read it, but I am afraid I may be getting squeamish in my old age.

Whedon Speak: How Cyclops Got His Groove Back

On Nov 11, 2008 9:24 AM

(I am not sure I am awesome enough to post here.  Are nonstaff allowed to post in this thread?) Look at that picture up there.  Why wasn't Cyclops an absolute badass from day one?  He is the Duke/Hawk of the X-men (that is a G.I. Joe reference for those of you not old enough to vote).
