10.01.2008 - Top 10 Season 2 #1

On Oct 1, 2008 7:20 PM

I was a bit skeptical of the new Top 10, but once I saw who was involved I decided to take a shot because of their familiarity with the characters.  I HATE when a new writer and/or artist comes on to a book and decides to throw out the status quo and go in a new bold direction.  Remember when Thunderbolts tried to be "Fight Club"...yuck.  And I think that the word "...

My First Shop: LCS Prime

On Sep 17, 2008 9:00 AM

Ok Mike it appears that we had similiar tastes in shops beack then.  For m in the 70's, it was Comics and Comix in Berkeley, and right down Telegraph Ave. was Best of Two Worlds, and in Oakland there was Graphic Fantasy Comic Shop.  Those were good times to be a young reader, once Graphic Fantasy closed down I was at Comics and Comix for my books every week until I left for college in...

The iFanboy Letter Column - 09/12/08!

On Sep 12, 2008 4:00 PM

I wasn't aware that All Star Batman had even come out, I see it listed for the 24th on the DC site.  This is like the Conan thing from a few years ago when there was a Nude cover and people freaked out, it really isn't that big of a deal.  If somone wants to buy it, great, if not, great too.  But all of the brewing and future arguments about the book are pointless, those who want...

4 Comic Book Writers

On Sep 10, 2008 11:44 AM

Well at first this sounded simple but upon reflection to narrow the list to four was difficult.  Thus mu list is: Geoff Johns, he makes the DCU happen and his characters really come to life Brad Meltzer, Identity Crisis is what I use to get peole back into comics, a truly perfect story. Robert Kirkman, consistent and always well presented and looked forward to. Ed Brubaker, I love his...

The Bulletproof Writer, and Other Tales to Appall

On Sep 8, 2008 11:08 AM

@lukehopkins: Johns run on Avengers was not very good when compared to his DC work.  He didn't show the depth of knowledge of those characters as he does in the DCU.   And Alan Moore can do no wrong, anyone who can take the Youngblood charaters and the Extreme/Liefeld universe and make them compelling is a genius.

Why is it that most people defer to Vegans or Vegetarians anyway? I know that if one joins my group on the rod to th esteakhouse, then they had better have a salad and keep their Anti-meat or meat is murder crap to themselves.  I don't see the utility in denying oneself the joy of a good steak to appease someone who is a Vegan and then not hungry?!  Butt, meet boot. I guess I ama Grin...

The Geek Closet

i hated jr. high.  i was a complete outcast.  since my school was in Oakland, the overwhelming majority of students were into music like the Commodores, Earth wind & Fire and Parliament/Funkadelic.  Not me.  Strictly Rock.  Fromo the Beatles and really into KISS, Ted Nugent and Aerosmith.  i was different because it was clear to me that if a person looked a cer...

08.24.2008 - Episode #147: Fear Agent #23

On Aug 24, 2008 6:17 PM

I'm glad they mentioned Joe Casey's work on WildCats, the book was great and ended prematurely because certain people, Jim Lee, felt the need to re-start the line...again.  And to that end he released a number one issue and nothing since.  That is why he has earned my contempt, instead of letting Casey finish his story, he had to force his way back onto the book and for what? One lous...
