Give it to me DIGITAL!

On Nov 14, 2008 8:00 AM

This article follows along with my thoughts all week as I read everybody's articles.  We need comics on the Kindle (or any e-reader).  I just did a quick google search for color e-paper, and it now does exist, but probably another year, at least, away from the consumer marketplace. On a similar, but different topic, does anybody use a tablet pc to read digital comics?  I usuall...

Comic Books Prices: How Much is Too Much?

On Nov 13, 2008 9:00 AM

I am not sure if anybody has mentioned this before but I, for one, would not be against going back to the lesser paper stock.  I read a couple issues of The kids Shazam book by Mike Kunkel, and was not appalled by the quality.  If that means keeping lower costs, I'd be all for it.  Otherwise it is going to be a smaller pull list and more trades and library searches.

Paper, PDFs and Pirates

On Nov 12, 2008 12:00 PM

This article comes out at a perfect time, for me.  My wife and I are expecting our second child in February, and with that comes a new lack of money.  So we are in the process of going through our budget to see where we can save money, and the two "luxury" items I am hanging onto are Gamefly (which prevents me from buying games, so saves money) and comic books.  She ac...

iFanboy - Episode #89 - Discovering Manga

On Sep 24, 2008 5:34 PM

You need to see the movie version of Battle Royale.  It is weird and violent, but not as over the top extreme as the manga appears from the review of the book.

A Post Kirkman & Bendis Manifesto of Sorts

Being a wrestling fan as well, I have seen this happening to the WWE for the last 5 or 6 years.  They had a formula that worked and stuck with it no matter what the numbers were telling them.  They would see a "strong" profit, and think they are ok, but not admitting to themselves it was because of higher prices and not a stronger fan base.  They are now starting to re...

I Demand the Future!

Am I the only person that would probably buy more on a weekly basis if they were digital?  I think for the right price, I would try out just about any comic if it looked interesting.  I think the concept of the current Marvel Digital thing os ok, but I don't to read my comics through a flash player.  I want to be able to go offline and read when I want.  Say for example if I...

The iFanboy 2008 Summer Movie Wrap-Up

On Jul 22, 2008 9:32 AM

Here is what I keep saying over and over in my head... Where is the DC followup for next year?  I don't count Watchmen because it is not part of the main universe.  Marvel has Wolverine only right now, but it would not shock me if something else appears by the end of the year for release next year.  Marvel "deserves" the lull of one movie anyway after having 2+ movies ...

Are Comic Book Movies Ruining Summer?

On Jun 6, 2008 12:01 AM

Hollywood has found the "James Bond" of the new millennium, and will use it to the fullest.  What I mean by this, is that James Bond was a character with some pretty strong source material.  They were able to make numerous stories based upon them and while certain actors would become synonymous with playing that role, people just accepted a new Bond being brought in every c...

Ode to My Bag of Unread Comics

On Jun 4, 2008 11:55 AM

Except for the backpack stage, this is my comic reading situation exactly.  When my son was born I ended up getting 9 months behind on reading books and it became a complete disaster.  While I am now caught up, and have been for much of this calendar year, I won't mention how far back I am on the bagging and boxing stage.
