Name: Jeff Sandquist

I am a Certified Athletic Trainer and chiropractic student born, raised and schooled in Minnesota. I enjoy comic books of all kinds, action figures, cartoons (especially 80s) and movies (especially horror and Kevin Smith flicks). It was Wolverine, the 90s X-Men cartoon and Marvel trading cards that got me into comics. My favorite creator/writer/artist is Sam Kieth. I especially love his Wolverine and The Maxx. I used to only read Marvel and Image but in the past few years I have opened up to all publishers. Recently I have been catching up on the classics such as Kingdom Come and just about anything Alan Moore or Frank Miller have done. I have also been enjoying the new classics such as Y the Last Man and Fables. I am open reading new books and thanks to iFanboy I have been introduced to great books like Scalped.

'Iron Man'

On May 1, 2008 3:48 PM

Amazing...I have never liked or care about Iron Man but Robert Downey Jr made it happen. Great special effects (not too much obvious CGI), very funny and awesome ending after the credits. I can't wait for Iron Man 2 already.

5 Artists Who Aren't For Me

On Apr 29, 2008 11:51 AM

First, I am pretty amazed that Bachalo and Liefeld on this list for as much as I have heard their names mentioned on the podcast. Second, agree with Dante about liking the artists you grew up with. For me I LOVE Sam Kieth (as well as Sienkiewicz) because his Wolverine and The Maxx got me into comics. But for the life of my I can stand almost any art prior to the mid to late 80s. Specifically,...

Captain Planet - HELP?!?!

On Apr 25, 2008 12:35 AM

Every few years I got through my long boxes and separate stuff into 3 piles...stuff to keep, stuff to re-read and decide if they are worth keeping and finally the pile of "what was I thinking when I bought this shit!!!". When I decide to get rid of comics I bring them to one of the many Half Price Book Stores near me and take what they will give me for them (which isn't usually much ...

New comics for 04/16/08 are running on empty!

On Apr 14, 2008 12:20 PM

A very light week with only Ghost Rider and Grendel. But they are both books that I have been looking forward to; especially Ghost Rider (never thought I would say that; Aaron is a miracle worker, everything he touches turns to gold for me).  BQ: A few all-nighter study sessions in college and a few random nights otherwise here and there. So probably about 36-48 hours max. Generally I lo...

On Mar 31, 2008 12:57 PM

Kick Ass and Logan in the same week!!! These 2 books left me on the edge of my seat after the first issues. I can't wait to see what happens; great covers on both (especially Kick Ass). Plus G.I. Joe WWIII is coming to an end which is exciting. So far Cobra is kicking ass; check this story arc out if you have ever like G.I. Joe in any capacity (comics, cartoons, toys). Finally, Everybody's Dead...

200 Words with Paul Dini #7 - Cruisin' With Dr. Teeth - Almost

On Mar 27, 2008 1:10 AM

My first car was a '94 Mazda Protege. It was also a stick (manual transmission). Long story short, just after learning to drive it but still shaky in reverse, I backed into a brand-new-never-off-the-lot Mazda 626 right in the dealership parking lot in front of all the salesmen and mechanics. Damn was I embarrassed.  Luckily it only took some paint off my bumper, but unfortunately it...

Ink? Oh... ink.

On Mar 21, 2008 12:09 AM

I have a tattoo of Timmy, the boy from Dale Keown's The Pitt on my right shoulder blade. It was taken from a pin-up done by my favorite artist Sam Kieth in the back of issue #1. I got it in memory of my father who passed away when I was 4 and because I will always be a kid at heart.  I am hoping to someday get my entire back done with my favorite characters (Wolverine, Angel, The Maxx, D...

200 Words with Paul Dini #6 - Countdown Digout

On Mar 20, 2008 12:15 AM

Sounds a lot like my room and desk space. Last time I cleaned all I found of interest was an unpaid credit card bill that I had forgotten about because it was buried beneath a mound of comics, DVDs and other crap. All I got for my cleaning efforts was a $35 late payment fee. I dig the column, keep 'em coming.
