So...what do you like?

On Nov 4, 2009 9:00 AM

I am always happy to be reading: Incredible Hercules (one of the funniest books out there, exciting, unpredictable, always awesome and usually PotW) Everything by Christos Gage (Initiative is almost always my PotW when it comes out, and he has told some of the most beautiful character studies I've seen in comics in that series; Mighty Avengers has been getting better and better --still want ...

Book Adoration

On Oct 22, 2009 12:00 PM

My boyfriend (not a comics guy but has been getting into them slowly via my trade collection) asked why I don't own any of these super-luscious special edition giganto-books when I mentioned that they exist.  It seemed like the most obvious thing to him that a mondo-fan would need to own them.  And I was like, yeah, I'm sure they're nice, but they're too heavy to lift more than one o...

Can I Afford Comics?

On Oct 14, 2009 12:00 PM

I got into comics initially by way of trades.  Preacher, then Sandman, were my gateway drugs.  I didn't know exactly when a new volume would be coming out, so I would just wait a few months or so in between trips to the store and hope for the best.  (Man that seems strange to me now, what with the Internet making it possible not only to know what's coming and when but if you don...

Future Comics - Post Print Ponderings

On Oct 7, 2009 9:00 AM

A while back, when I first had a big hard drive capable of holding endless quantities of music, I ripped all my CDs, thinking how much easier it would be now that I could just play music straight from my computer, in any song order I chose, etc.  Now I think about some song I'd like to hear, and I think, Oh man, I'd have to fire up my computer, wait for it to load everything, and it wou...

The iFanboy Letter Column - 10/02/2009

On Oct 2, 2009 3:00 PM

Season 1 of Smallville was at times brilliant (where it dealt with the budding friendship between Clark & Lex and Lex's character development in general), at times unbearably lame, hokey, and derivative (I am recalling the ep where a girl drinks Kryptonite diet shakes that turn her into a cannibal). But the series gets better and better as you go (till ...

First Impressions of Characters Can Last a Lifetime

On Sep 29, 2009 9:00 AM

New Ultimate Spider-Man has been mentioned in this light repeatedly since LaFuente took over, but it's the big stand-out in my mind on this question.  I really dislike the way he draws all the characters we already knew.  Where he gets to start from scratch, i.e. Mysterio, it's fine, but his Peter Parker just doesn't look like Peter Parker from the previous runs (among other things, h...

The pilot aired at SDCC and was awesome!  I'm looking forward to more.  Also, Bear McCreary did the music, which adds so much.

Heroes - S04E01 + 02 - Orientation + Jump, Push, Fall

On Sep 21, 2009 7:00 PM

I also miss this show being good...but it's been too bad for too long, and there's just too much else I could be doing/watching/reading...I think I will pretend this show got cancelled unfairly at the end of its great first season and try to forget everything that has happened since then.
