Book Adoration

I love the look of the oversized books on my shelves.  I look at them and buy them far too often.  But with this recent price hike for the omibi and their ilk, don't think I'll be buying as often or as freely as I did.  Not that $99 is too far from $125 (not that I've ever paid full price, but the 25% discount it would still be the previous full price).  I do love the size...

'Planet Hulk' Hits on DVD February 2, 2010

On Oct 9, 2009 7:10 PM

All the stories Marvel has to choose from and this is what they decided to animate first?  Really?  Planet Hulk?  Was there cry for more Planet Hulk that I missed?  Obviously this was started a few years ago, because for some reason animation takes as long as an issue of Planetary to complete, but why was this Marvel's first stab at animating their stories.  Love Hulk,...

Diamond says: "No comics for you!" (In December. For one week.)

Here's to hoping my LCS instead has a big end of year sale.  If we can keep it quite until then I'll totally forget this is going to happen and show up at the LCS anyhow with intent to buy something.  I know on slow weeks I spend close to the same as regular weeks cause I break my rule and by a handful of something till I feel I've sated my new book jones.

Longbox Demo + Presentation from Heroes Con

On Jun 30, 2009 11:55 AM

I so can't wait till this foces Marvel and DC to join the parade.  I can't see them offering on Longbox but hopefully this will make them come up with their own offerings and not pillage my pocket with some stupid overpriced subscription.  So many books I'd like to read but don't want all that extra crap around my house and I can't seem to throw them away or organize them e...

Time for a new definition of the supervillain

On Jun 25, 2009 9:00 AM

Good guys need bad guys.  To attempt to leave the bad guys motives up for interpretation is fine.  To outright portray the "bad guy" as right in his/her own way though lessens our superheros.  Ambigous roles "bad" guys are for reallityesque books.  Capes (when I say this I speak of Marvel and DC books only) need the bad guy who wants to take ov...

On Jun 21, 2009 3:20 PM

In Hawaii right now and the start of the cast made me check my phone (FM station I'm using occassionally gets blasted by PBS). Just for that I'll head to one of the not so nice LCS's and pick up the pick of the week. See you guys in San Diego...next to the sunshine, my next favorite about living there.

"It’s happened before. It’ll happen again."

On Dec 3, 2008 9:00 AM

Great view!! Made me think over the last, well long, long time a perfect example for me is Legion of Super-Heroes.  I loved em back in the early eighties, all the continuity the huge team, just loved it.  This went on forever, through my run on X-Men, X-Factor, hell even X-Force for a minute then they rebooted the Legion.  I still liked it but it wasnt the same.  T...

My First Shop: Downeast Comics

On Aug 20, 2008 10:52 AM

The spinner rack was where I was introduced to the world of comic books.  Pulling an issue or either Richie Rich Riches or some cartoony book.  Firestorm was my first superhero book and begging my mom to buy it (dad would always throw a quarter down, though when 35 cents became the norm it would only be one book for me and one for my brother).  And it was Firestorm that lead...

Introducing, the iFanboy Community: Comic Book Reviews by you!

On Jul 21, 2008 11:36 PM

Think this'll be a handy addition.  Everybody reviews the BIG titles, but I want a review of the OZ Wonderland stuff or a Transformer book.  Books I would never really give a second look at unless it had a really, really pretty cover.  Great addition to the site.
