Name: Martin Gray
I'm a journalist in Edinburgh and fond of police procedural telly, biscuits and musicals. I know far more than any decent person should about My Little Pony, having spent years editing British comic books about them; thankfully I also got to edit reprint titles for such folk as Batman and Superman. And the best bit of that? Chatting to the readers in lettercols - no pleasure in life equals being italicised.

On Jul 25, 2008 12:00 PMTalia? Nah, she'll always choose her dad over Bruce - has she ever seriously tried to, you know, stop being a poisonous dragon lady murderess? I say Silver St Cloud, the first woman to see through his secret ID and the only one with sense enough to walk away.

On Jul 20, 2008 3:59 PMThe Woodchucks are on the Scalped cover? Darned if I can see Huey, Dewey and Louie anywhere. And if any non-Brits haven't seen the final episode of BBC sitcom Blackadder Goes Forth, check it out for a surprisingly touching look at the Great War - I wept buckets at the last scene.

On Jun 22, 2008 12:13 PMHi, I met Mike Carey at a con a few years back. He was writing for British comics solely back then, with a day job as a teacher. So I'd say he wasn't an established writer pre-comics, unless you count writing 8/10 occasionally. Lovely fella!

On Jun 15, 2008 1:53 PMAnd here's another 'well done Mike' - nice job. I've also not tried Invincible, I've a bit of a mental block about adjectives used as nouns. Also, in podcast discussions of the book, I can't recall hearing a unique selling point for the character. It's usually - as it was here - it's like Ultimate Spider-Man. Well, that's not a book I read, so I don't bother. And if I did,I likely wouldn't bot...

On May 22, 2008 12:46 AMI loved this book to bits, I'd be happy if Slott and Martin were producing the only Spidey book every month. Finally, something other than Peter's camera clicks. I did smile at the book MJ had at the end.

On May 14, 2008 4:13 PMHey look kids, it's a great Secret Invasion tie-in. Writer Paul Cornell (Doctor Who, Primeval, Marvel's Wisdom mini-series), penciller Leonard Kirk (Supergirl,JSA)and colleagues present a tale of Britain's greatest heroes in a time of trial. Said heroes are Cap aka Brian Braddock, 'hot knife'-throwing spy Pete Wisdom, speedster-vampire Spitfire, John the good Skrull Beatle, Dr Faiza Hussain a...

On Apr 25, 2008 12:42 AMI'm with Patio, the Ostrander/Mandrake Martian Manhunter series was a gem. We learned about JJ's many secret identities, details of his past, met such fascinating characters as Bette Noir (she's better than the name, honest) and more. As for Superman, in the Silver Age he was familiar with Klurkor, which was a Kryptonian Karate or somesuch. I bet he still has the chops. I also love log...
