I'm a journalist in Edinburgh and fond of police procedural telly, biscuits and musicals. I know far more than any decent person should about My Little Pony, having spent years editing British comic books about them; thankfully I also got to edit reprint titles for such folk as Batman and Superman. And the best bit of that? Chatting to the readers in lettercols - no pleasure in life equals being italicised.

On Nov 19, 2009 3:06 AMFine review Conor. I never trusted Geoff Johns after #1 and I was wrong! I won't be at all upset if Wally keeps the TV-ish costume . . . it's pretty much the one he had years ago, bar the new nose and the lesser-angled chest bolt (you don't suppose he's getting a new name starting with S? Nahhhh). I think Jesse looks rather good in her dad's old cossie - and is there any reason she can't stil...

On Nov 14, 2009 7:39 PMWhat JeffR sad, Batgirl was brilliant this week. And while I'm not a huge fan of the new costume, it's much better that the Cassandra Caine cossie, which makes anyone wearing it look like a balloon on a stick/scarecrow gimp. I've really enjoyed Joe Kelly's Spider-Man stories but really had to struggle through this latest Amazing Spider-Man. It was fun through the Stilt Woman bit but once...

On Nov 11, 2009 5:06 PMExcellent review Josh, I've never read a BPRD but I may ignore your semi-advice and try this anyway. It's great to see a resurgence from veteran letterer Clem Robins this year - where HAS he been the past few years?

On Nov 8, 2009 4:37 PMExcellent show, chaps. @cooper John Paul Leon also did sterling work on DC's Challengers of the Unknown back in the Nineties. I suppose if you're into heavy metal you'd have a good chance of recognising Mr Ian but I really doubt most people would. I've heard of Anthrax, never heard anything by them, never heard of him. It's weird DC were apparently so keen to have him write Lobo, unless he h...

On Nov 1, 2009 2:51 PMI know I'm late and no one is reading, but never mind, a fella has to vent. Superman: Secret Origin was competent but very dull. I realise the original Adventure Comics #247 presents the Legion as psychos but at least there was inventiveness there. Geoff Johns subtracted that and added nothing. The team just shows up. Oh well, at least they cheered the thoroughly Smallvilled Clark up a tad. ...

On Oct 28, 2009 11:26 PMI liked the first story but the Question tale was just dull, capping five issues of competently scripted, nicely drawn boredom featuring a character who was once unique but is now a faceless follower.

On Oct 25, 2009 6:04 PM@edward: 'Did anyone actually know who David Bowie's kid was before 'Moon' came out?' What's your point? It sounds as if you're being mean for no reason at all; is there any reason we should have heard of the guy? Give him some credit for making his own way. British and gay here, so yeah, Constantine (sounds like the river). The pronunciation difference that most intrigues me is th...

On Oct 18, 2009 12:39 PMI'm another one who hates credits that take forever to come. (Is there a term? Tantric credits?) It's not like they add anything by arriving later; as Flapjaxx says, they delay my settling into a book. And credits at the end? Playing with tradition for the sake of it. I once counted the time it took Alias to get underway and the record was 18 minutes or something.
