New Comics for 05/14/08 are really quite jet-lagged!

On May 12, 2008 4:29 PM

Big week for me. Batman, Wonder Woman, Booster Gold, Young Liars, Guardians of the Galaxy...Huntress Year One (yes!)- this is an awful lot of comics. Morrison's Batman tops them all though. Pull List: Batman #676 Booster Gold #9 Casanova #14 Final Crisis Sketchbook Gotham Underground #8 Green Arrow Black Canary #8 Green Lantern Corps #24 Guardians Of Galaxy #1 Huntress Year One #1 Serenity ...

iFanboy - Episode #69: Classic Marvel Vault

On May 10, 2008 9:21 PM

Kree-Skrull War had the most complex plot ever devised. That is some hella convoluted plotting. Though I loved the book all the same.

I just finished reading The Filth...

On May 9, 2008 2:24 AM

Very underrated book. Perhaps a bit ahead of it's time. Much of The Filth relies on readers having some degree of knowledge of the concepts that inform the work. The Filth was one fo the few times where the medium of comics failed Morrison. The ideas didn't come through on the page as his previous works. Impenetrable, no. Dense, absolutely .

200 Words with Paul Dini #12 - "But when exactly?!?"

On May 8, 2008 1:08 AM

Makes sense. Said this on a forum before a few weeks back; I read Dini's Detective run as occurring at some point in Batman's life, but not exactly now. Often Detective feels as though it is taking place in the past. Whereas Morrison's Batman seems to be the lead book right now in Batman continuity. I do like the ...

Seven Soldiers of Awesome

On May 7, 2008 11:30 PM

@Jimski Seven Soldiers of Victory was not an event. The SSoV books were self contained in their own fictional universe. It was not a crossover of any kind. Nor was it a big event pushed by the company. All that being said, Seven Soldiers of Victory is one of Morrison's finest, deepest and most complex work. One can see how all the seemingly disparate ideas Morrison had been playing with up ti...

Something... something... Grant Morrison! New Comics for 05/07/08!

On May 5, 2008 4:48 PM

Didn't think I was going to have so many books this week. I am looking forward to that DC reprint of the original Justice League issue where Libra gets the Injustice Gang together. Not sure about Mighty Avengers. I may read it off the shelf. BQ: Ketchup on a Hot Dog makes me want to vomit. Pull List this week: All New Atom #23 American Splendor Season Two #2 (OF 4) B...

To be fair, John Lasseter is a pretty righteous dude to be confused for.

04.30.2008 - Glamourpuss #1

On Apr 30, 2008 9:17 PM

Ha! I knew it was going to be Glamourpuss. I called it on the forums earlier today. The iFanboys are like clockwork. Still...Glamourpuss was terrific. I was debating rather to pick this up or not, but flipping through it in the store convinced me. Fascinating read. My POW is DC Universe Zero. Great set up for the coming year. Finally we see where some of these plot threads are hea...

MAJOR SPOILERS About Comics in the Mainstream Media Today

On Apr 30, 2008 9:49 AM

Barry Allen coming back is epic level shit for DC fans. But I think the excellence of DC Universe Zero is unfortunately overshadowed by Barry's return. If you been following the DCU up till now, the book was epic in oh-so-many ways. Final Crisis is going to rock my face off.
