Well, I agree that it was nice to have a storyline in DD that didn't continue to wallow in the misery. I only gave this particular issue a rating of three out of five, however.  Just fairly average as an issue.

Comic Sales: Nobody Knows Anything

While it's true that many of Kirkman's statements-- in the manifesto and Word Balloon followup-- were so general as to be nearly impossible to agree with, at times he did make more specific statements, which usually were either contradictory, obviously refutable, or just annoying. In the "just annoying" category: the notion that, essentially, the creator owned books can tell the ad...

08.13.2008 - Secret Invasion #5

Well, first let me say that the best book I read this week-- without question-- was Walking Dead.  #51 might've been my favorite issues of that series to date.  But, since many people here read that in trade, I figured it wouldn't be in the running for POW-- and also I can't say much more about it, for fear of spoilerage. Of the rest of my rather large stack this week, I thought se...

Umm.. yeah, I just got around to picking up my books, read this first and... can't say that I enjoyed much about it.  Perhaps the last 3 pages or so, that's about it.

The iFanboy Letter Column - 08/01/08!

On Aug 1, 2008 12:00 PM

I too have recently really gotten into the Marvel Cosmic books.  Until a month ago, I had never read any recent Marvel Cosmic stuff, and couldn't care less.  Then I picked up a couple of issues of Nova.  WOW-- what a terrific series.  I'm now working through the first Annihilation series, and then I'll read the second.  I'm also reading Guardians of the Galaxy, of course.

07.30.2008 - Wolverine #67

On Jul 30, 2008 8:46 PM

This book was one of only a few good books I read this week, amidst a pile of average.  Can't argue with the pick, because no other book stood out and surpassed Wolverine.  I will say that Black Panther was, to me, a huge disappointment-- the first really bad book I can remember from Aaron, one of my favorite writers.  The way he maneuvured both sides into a Braveheart-style c...

New Comics for 07/30/08 Are Sore From San Diego!

Thing I'm most excited about coming out of Comic-Con: Marvel's War of Kings.  Abnett and Lanning are hitting on all cylinders right now-- Nova has quickly become my favorite super hero book.  This week: Locke & Key jumps out at me-- I LOVE that series so far.  Black Panther with Jason Aaron; Dynamo 5; Green Lantern; JSA Annual; Thor; Ultimate Spidey; Northlanders; the two ...

07.23.2008 - Uncanny X-Men #500

Well, I can't argue with picking this book if only for the new direction it promises.  And yes, the art was just hideous, especially Land.  (although Dodson's Emma Frost is just his Wonder Woman with blonde hair). Can't say much more about this book. The best book I read this week-- by far, and very suprisingly-- was Iron Fist #17.  I was very worried about this book, with Frac...

07.10.2008 - Powers #29

Don't read this book.  Picked up the first two trades, didn't care for it; tried in issues a few issues ago, still didn't grab me.  I don't particularly care for Bendis' dialogue, is the main thing I think.  I've only read about half my books so far, but the best has been Final Crisis: Requiem.  I had no particular hopes for that book going in, but it absolutely blew me a...
