iFanboy - Episode #97 - Mike Allred

On Nov 19, 2008 3:09 PM

Sigh... stuff like this just makes me sad at how Madman has really become a pretentious shadow of it's former glory.   Bought nearly everything Madman when it first started a billion years ago.... I dropped it a few months back.  It's just not the same book anymore....and that in itself is a good thing that it's evolved and changed as it's gotten older.  I just don't like wh...

Action Comics: Now with NO Superman!

On Nov 18, 2008 10:44 AM

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong but they took Superman off of Action Comics when it went weekly in the 80's right?  It didn't work then and it won't work now.  If this is actually happening it's a VERY stupid move.   -Gregg

Alan Moore, the Watchmen Movie's Biggest Fan

On Oct 18, 2008 1:42 PM

Alan Moore is very thankful to Dick Giordano for convincing him to use his own characters instead of the Charlton ones.  Giordano wanted to use original characters to maintain the power and impact of the Watchmen story itself as well as the ability to use the Charlton heroes later on.  Saying Giordano 'stopped' Moore from using the Charlton characters makes it sound like there was so...

Captain America: Operation Rebirth

On Aug 4, 2008 4:30 AM

I am sooo glad Connor picked this.  I loved this run on the book as well as the second run Cap had with Waid and Garney/Andy Kubert after the whole Heroes reborn craptacular.  The whole Cap losing and regaining his shield arc is one of the all time best (And I'm a freaking Canadian!).  Dan Jurgens had a solid run on this series as well.  Sadly, Marvel decided to put Cap int...

Watchmen Movie Trailer - This is really happening

On Jul 17, 2008 4:51 PM

Colour me impressed!! (Yes Colour... I'm Canadian)  I was skeptical how this could be done... not because I'm one of those guys who declares something crap before I've seen it (Glad to see only a couple posts of the prejudging variety on here) but I just wasn't sure how you could do it!  Well this is a very HUGE first step in showing me they might just have pulled it off!

SecretFinalInvasionCrisis #1

On Jul 16, 2008 12:00 PM

I'll read a good comic no matter who puts it out.  But right now my pull lists don't have much Marvel in them, and Secret Invasion is really making me think about having less.  Hey at least we are getting Captain Britain from the whole mess.  For my money Final Crisis is THE book coming out right now followed by Marvel 1985.

The Whole Movie Thing Didn't Work. And I'm OK With That.

On Jul 7, 2008 11:13 PM

I'm curious about the percentage of North Americans that actually have access to a comic shop?  I don't have one anywhere near me and I'm sure most other people in a small town don't either.  Since comics aren't found in drugstores like they were when I was a kid, I'm willing to guess a LOT of people don't have easy access to comics.  I also doubt a person who just wants to pick...

The Thor Report

I dropped this title after three issues.  Not the the Thor I like.  Give me Thorspeak and Ron Frenz doing his best Kirby and I'll start buying it again.

The DC Comics Absolute Quandry - Top 5 Stories That Should Be Absolutes

On Jul 2, 2008 9:07 AM

I'm all for the Spirit Absolute as long as we get a run of Eisner stories instead of Cookes.  Cooke is good, but he's no Eisner, and to be fair to Darwyn... who is?  I think most of my picks will skew much older than the ones Ron mentioned in his excellent post. 1.  'Camelot 3000 Absolute' A brilliant book that never gets the love it deserves.  Mike Barr and Brian Boland...
