Sentences The Life Of Mf Grimm Tp
On Nov 4, 2008 12:48 AMI also recently checked this out from my local library, and it was darn good. I was impressed with the art in the scenes with fantastic violence, just as Conor mentioned. To be honest, though, I had to fight off hating Grimm as I read. I know that the draw (no pun intended) of these kind of stories is that the main character (or real-life person in this case) doesn't always do the...
Go to Comment'X-Men: First Class' is the Best X-Book Being Published
On Oct 14, 2008 9:00 AMI picked up issue #6 after some glowing reviews in a podcast, and though I really liked parts of it, the weird side-story in the middle really threw me off. It was WAY too juvenile, and the original story picked backed up in a weird spot. I was totally confused. Are these little kiddie interludes in every issue? Am I the only one to have this experience?
Go to CommentRIP MINX - DC Comics Shuts Down Line
On Sep 29, 2008 9:02 AMI taught in a high school last year with a large Hispanic population, and I gave Minx books to my English Language Learners (the girls, that is) whenever my classes did some silent reading. Guess what? The girls loved this stuff! For kids who want a relatable story that is complex enough to be a page turner yet has visual clues for kids learning English, this line was perfect....

On Sep 28, 2008 5:50 PMI'll miss my the Minis, that's for sure, but it's like they say--"You get what you pay for." Actually, I typically get half of the value of what I pay for than what I get for free from iFanboy. I don't know who 'they' are, but they are full of applesauce, if you axe me.
Go to CommentRobert Kirkman's Editorial
On Aug 13, 2008 11:40 PMI'm fascinated by any and all discussion of the potential of comics, and to me, Kirkman is simply advocating for not only sustaining comics' popularity, but increasing it in ways that will please fanboys and newcomers alike. Let's be honest: works like "The Dark Knight Returns" and Brubaker's run on Captain America are the exceptions to the rule when it comes to the canonical chara...

On Aug 12, 2008 7:47 AMMy wife nearly cried at how damn cute George was. Shameless, Josh, even admittedly so.

On Aug 8, 2008 10:18 AMGreat recommendation, Gordon. From the preview it looks like this book might actually be a good fit in my middle school English classroom. I'm always looking for that sort of stuff. Thanks!

On Jul 10, 2008 6:09 PMI've also got to pick this up in trades. The few issues I've purchased have been beautiful, but I've had no idea what was going on story-wise.
Go to CommentThe Whole Movie Thing Didn't Work. And I'm OK With That.
On Jul 7, 2008 11:13 PMWell put, Josh. Would it be too much to ask for the comic book publishers to pay movie theaters to set up spinner racks full of comics in the lobby? This would kill! The littluns that are dragged by their parents to see these movies would beg and beg for their parents to buy copies of Marvel Adventures! Another important reason why comics will have a hard time breaking out o...
Go to CommentTen Things I Love About Comics (The Negativity Free Article)
On Jul 1, 2008 9:00 AMI love iFanboy and the iFanbase. As mentioned by many a person above, I too have no one to really talk comics with in my circle of friends. It's almost embarassing how much I look forward to watching podcasts and checking the website. I truly feel like y'all have become my friends in comics. I love the serial nature of the medium. Yes, I'm mature enough to know that I'...
