Action Comics: Now with NO Superman!

On Nov 18, 2008 10:44 AM

I have three predictions: 1. Doesn't happen 2. If it happens, it'll happen for a hand full of issues, then revert back 3. This  shift will occur in issue 875, then revert back with Superman's smashing return to his title in issu 900. Comic companies like big events around milestone issue numbers.

For The Love of Hardcovers

On Nov 18, 2008 1:27 AM

I've never liked hard covers, but I started coming around when I saw the Amazing Spider-Man for $60 on amazon. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get a book in the mail, even though it's a pretty common occurance for me. I have the Starman Omnibus on my christmas list. Every time I see the New Frontier Absolute I  alllllllllllllllllllmost buy it, but the fact that I own the comics ...

New Comics for 11/05/08 was eating that. Bastard.

Man, tiny week! I'm only getting JSA and Amazing Spider-Man, but that allows me to pick up the last 4 or 5 issues of Trinity.  BQ: Ghostbusters and a close second in The Man Who Knew Too Little. If you haven't seen it (or even heard of it) do yourself a favor and check it out.

The iFanboy Letter Column - 10/24/08!

On Oct 24, 2008 3:00 PM

Savage Dragon was so good, especially from about issue 25-75. It really was on of the absolute best titles published by any publisher in the mid to late 90s.  It's a title that all three iFanboys, all the interns and most of the of the iFanbase would enjoy once they get past the initial 20 run of typical early 90s Image content (though it was certainly as good as, if not better than, Spawn...

Marvel Pets

Horatio, you made me laugh.   Besides the Superman pets, and possibly Talky Tawny, who are the DC pets?

10.08.2008 - Action Comics #870

On Oct 8, 2008 8:03 PM

Acation 870 was also my favorite book, but, funnily enough, I thought the choice to kill Pa Kent was dumb and pointless. The interaction between Clark and his parents can be one of the best relationships in comics, so it seems pretty pointless to kill one of them. It gives stakes and can pack an emotional punch, but then we are missing a great relationship to read. Still, it was the best book o...

Dead Babies Are Fun: Swears, Squares, and Comic Ratings

On Oct 6, 2008 11:15 AM

I've always thought "prude" referred to one's view of sex, not violence. I guess I learn something new everyday. In any case, Jimski, you aren't a prude, you just have good taste. Zombie covers are in bad taste...isn't that the point?  I think it's ironic that such a detestably gross concept is, in fact, aimed  at immature pre-teens...or adults with similarly immature taste...

To the box or recycle bin?

On Oct 1, 2008 9:00 AM

I'm more like Jimski in that I have a periodical culling time. However, recently It's been harder and harder for me to get rid of stuff because as I pull the old books out I end up thinking "Oh, cool, I forgot about Waid and Kubert's Ka-Zar! This is sweet!" Then I take those out and read them. I reread old issues all the time, so it's hard for me to just say, "Aw I'll never rea...

The Bulletproof Writer, and Other Tales to Appall

On Sep 8, 2008 11:08 AM

Actually, the closest I can think of IS Stan Lee because, while the standard is lower than writers today, his stuff was always on his same level in my eye.  I like Stan and his universe, but I always felt like Hank Pym, Reed Richards, Matt Murdock, Tony Stark, Peter Parker, Steve rogers all had stan's voice. And that's not a bad thing. I eat it up....annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd nevermind, I just ...
