ARead

Name: Andrew Read

I was born in 1982.  I read comics off an on for awhile, but didn't get serious about collecting until Superman died.  I thought I was going to get rich investing my weekly allowance in the newest issues of Superman.  I have complete run from 'Reign of the Supermen' til way too long..... It's been a long time since Supes died and I'm not rich yet, oh well.

Right now I live in Boston, and really enjoy going to my LCS every week (really I think I read in issues largely as an excuse to head down there every wednesday...).  I spend way too much money on comics and way too much time online reading about them.

My Free Comic Book Day

On May 4, 2009 11:35 AM

New England Comics in Allston was pretty packed in the afternoon.  I was able to squeeze in and grab a few books... gotta say the Atomic Robo 'Dr. Dinosaur' story was AWESOME!!! an insane, time-travelling dinosaur fighting a wise-cracking robot... so good.

iFanboy - Episode #112 - WonderCon 2009

On Mar 11, 2009 11:09 AM

Wow, a lot of big interviews in this one huh?  Awesome episode guys, very funny.  I was especially glad to see Josh's interview with Duncan Rouleau, and I thought Ron did a great job interviewing everyone from Watchmen.

The art on Deadpool has been great.  I can understand the writing not being for everyone (though I generally like it a lot), but I think if people just flip through an issue they might be more tempted to pick it up

03.06.2009 - 'Watchmen'

On Mar 5, 2009 4:16 AM

Saw the movie on Sunday and agree with what seems to be the consensus in that I didn't really watch it as a movie-goer, more so as a comic-reader at the movies.  Everything that was changed took me out of the story a little (not because it was bad, but because I thought I knew what to expect).  At this point there are a few things I wish didn't change, mainly the way Rorschach deals ...

Adapting to Watchmen

On Feb 24, 2009 10:32 AM

Here's what I think is great:  I (a longtime comic reader/collector) just borrowed a copy of Watchmen from a friend of mine (first GN he's ever bought).  In exchange I've got a Walking Dead trade and a few other things lined up to let him borrow.  I doubt he'll be rushing to our LCS every wednesday, but still, its pretty cool.  I feel very confident that he never would have...

iFanboy Video - Day 1

Who's apartment is this?  And I've always wanted to see the rest of those background paintings... the ones where we can only see the feet... any way that could happen?
