Thor Ages Of Thunder

This is a retelling of Thor's Marvel origin, dipping into a more modern ideal that relies on the mood and tone of the traditional myth. In Marvel Thor was cast into the trap of a mortal body because he had become arrogant, brutal and uncaring of people around him. Odin hoped that this trap would help teach him humility and care once again. This is clearly the lead up to that event.

The Asgardians are dark, brooding, selfish and often outright mean repugnant creatures. Despite that they can be noble and awe-inspiring emblems of what right is. I really loved the way the story unfolds and the thoroughly adult styling in the story - particularly the bloody battles and Enchantress' slavery. It becomes very easy to see why she would turn sour on their whole culture.

The art is very nice. Psuedo-painted style. It fits the epic, bigger than life feeling. It captures the gore and and glory of gods battling, but also makes sure you understand the inhumanity of the subjects. Very good work that could only have been bested by a few.
