I was looking forward to this book having been a semi-fan of earlier Foolkiller incarnations. My primary gripe here is that I just read a Punisher book. Granted it's only the first issue, and the Foolkiller character only enters towards the end, but there was nothing original here. I understand the more realistic Marvel "Max" brand may prohibit using some of the earlier, "cheesier" aspects of the character (e.g., zorro type costume, purification gun, etc.); but at least those things gave him some uniqueness. Instead of a big skull on his T-Shirt, this guy has jester ink on his arms (that's the only apparent difference so far). To make it worse, the teaser for next week is "Enter ... The Punisher" (is there really room in this book for two vigilante, brooding, avenging bad @ss killing machines?). The art in the book was average (not bad but not great); although I did think the noir composition well suited the darkness of the story. The cherry on this sundae was the $3.99 price tag. I realize that "Max" titles may not be able to pull in the typical ad revenue, but the last time I checked regular comics are no longer filled with ads either. If you are going to charge 30%+ more than standard, you should be adding some extra content (how about an old Foolkiller story?), or at least something with even a sliver of originality. It seems that the other dozen or so who pulled this book rated it higher than myself, so I'd like to hear the contrarian argument. Will I give the "Wallet Killer" another chance? Perhaps ... because there is a fool born every minute.

Ever since I heard of this character, I hated the name. I have downloaded all of them but still refuse to read any because I can't get past that awful name. Youre review convinced me that I am not missing anything. *DELETE*
