Getting New Avengers #40 delivered 2 days early: price... eh, you know the drill
Anyway, this, this, this... this comic was amazing! What Bendis is laying out here might just be his best work yet. Not a single Avenger makes an actual appearance in the entire comic, and yet I had to catch my breath at the end of this story. Who is the Skrull Queen? What is the prophecy? What does it portend for the future of the Earth? And what does this all have to do with Spider-Woman? All of these questions get at least partially answered in this issue. And what blows my mind is that the reveal at the end is not what surprised me the most. What surprised me the most is that I actually care about Skrulls. After months of chilling, foreboding, hate-mongering suspense about the Skrull invasion in the pages of New Avengers (and elsewhere), now I might be feeling sorry for the little green dudes. They've had it rough, they have.
And Cheung's artwork?!? Freakin' awesome!!!!! This is a beautiful endpiece to the New Avengers Illuminati series. (Why isn't Cheung on a regular series? Heinberg!)
This issue has got my blood pumping, and I can't wait for more.

Absolutely agree! I love the fact that now and then Marvel delivers their subscriptions early, this was a fantastic book. I am finding myself so engrossed in why the Skrull's are doing what they are doing and even more so that this particular sect seems to be a little sympathetic. Wonderful Story
