This is Grant Morrison at his best: with Frank Quietly.
Despite the fact that this book doesn't feature Bruce Wayne as Batman, this book feels like a Batman book. My only complaint was that we dont get a lot of the new Batman/ Robin relationship, but we do get introduced to a new set of villains called the Circus of Strange, that actually seem like they could pose a threat for this Batman. Maybe its becuause this isnt Bruce under the cowl, but seeing a completely new and different rogues gallery seems like an okay idea, which is odd considering Batman traditionally has the greatest rogues gallery in comics (next to the Flash).
Ultimately, this book felt like what it was: the passing of the torch, complete with all of the symbolism that that entails, such as Dick and Alfred closing up Wayne Manor.
as far as the art goes, it's typical gorgeous Frank Quietly artwork with some nice and clever layouts, like the cross-section of Wayne Towers showing the "new" Batcave.
