Ever since the reveal of the building of seven corps for seven lanterns, I think a lot of people have been awaiting the arrival of the newbies on the block. We didn't have long to wait at all. Within this issue, Johns builds and explores the spanking new Red Lanterns who, due to art from the massively talented Shane Davis, have the potential to be even more disturbing than anything the Sinestro Corps might have been thinking about.
It also came to my attention the care that's been going into not just the main book, but Green Lantern Corps, which is now essential reading for anybody who wants to have any idea what's going on the the GLs. The casual mentions of the Zamaron diplomatic mission and the attempted takeover of the Sinestro Corps by Mongul's son Mongul (creative dude, right?) were great little tidbits that helped tiie everything together.
The only distraction was the lack of continuity to Oa. I feel like the Sciencells look totally different depending on who's drawing them, which is a little distracting to me. But that's a minor nitpick in a series that has been so clearly been planned out.
