While I'm pretty sure that these are collections of Morrison's work on Doctor Who from back in the 80s, you'd never be able to tell if you're a hardcore Doctor Who fan. That's the only possible downside to the book. If you're only a fan of new Who, this book is going to play with your head a little bit because it takes the original characters and just runs with them.
The book starts with the two-parter "Changes," which features the Sixth Doctor, Peri (who looks suspiciously like Sarah Jane Smith to me), and Frobisher the shape-shifting penguin. Yes, he was a comic exclusive character. This is a great story dealing with the infinite size of the TARDIS and a shapeshifter attempting to take it over. Great themes in here that you can tell were carried into All-Star Superman with the infinite zoo of alien creatures.
The second tale is a short one dealing with the Seventh Doctor unsure if he wants to keep traveling. Morrison really captures the Seventh Doctor of the end of his career, unsure of himself and wondering if adventuring through time and space is the right thing for him. Morrison really builds a quintessential Doctor Who story here, hitting all the points that I think make Doctor Who stories great.
Anything is possible again, absolutely my pick of the week.
