It wasn't atrocious. It wasn't very good either, but it wasn't atrocious.
I was very much anticipating the return of the Justice League, way
back, before Meltzer's run. And I really liked Meltzer on the book,
even the Lighting Saga was fun to me. A bit confusing, sometimes too slow;
still it was fun. That changed when McDuffie took over. Ever
since the book pretty much sucked. Granted, he is not responsible for
the crap he has to put up with. I don't blame him. I'm just saying that
was the point I started to dislike the book.
With this issue it returns to form a bit. The "two stories in one book"
finally starts working. Both stories felt as if they had a purpose and
something to say. They weren't the best stories in the world, nonetheless fairly enjoyable. I liked the Red Tornado "backup" better though. It's just pretty heartbreaking for me to see someone trapped in a computer. Maybe it's that...
The art served the purpose, so nothing
spectacular. A couple of odd panels here and there though. (Wonder
Woman's ass in the spread, Batman kicking that one guy who's name I
can't recall).
Overall it was an okay book and I had fun with it.
Still, it's too much enticed into the whole Final Crisis thingy for my taste...
