The legion of super-heroes, or short legion. What am I supposed to say about the legion? Being a dc guy my whole life (with interruptions, but I read no comics in that time, so it doesn't count), it's rather weird that I never got into this. I was never interested in those guys. I never cared. As with some (JSA, for instance) other stuff, Geoff Johns changed that fundamentally. I do care now, I actually want to know what happens next in legion lore. And that is the greatest strenght of this issue and by extend the whole run: people who never touched a legion book can pick this up and enjoy it. Because the legion is fun. Because they do matter. Without the legion Superman would be a different character, he wouldn't understand people as much. He couldn't, because he's so different! Because he's an outsider, the ultimate outsider in fact. Geoff Johns gets that and he also gets that he needs friends. Everybody does. Thank you, Mr. Johns for introducing me to a concept I never had considered as fun or interesting before! P.S. Zoidberg in the truck? Frikkin' awesome!
