This issue introduces readers to a new take on Batman. Waid gives us Jay Garrick and his sidekick Batman! Jay just steals the show here. Waid shows the reader why the original Flash is such a great character and why he has endured so long. We see him beat Batman to the punch many times, as well as giving lectures on his legacy. Ordway's art is good, but I'm still used to the Perez touch to detail and Ordway does not meet those expectations. This issue proves the point of this series: to give unique team ups that show new takes on DC's characters.
