I really like the way this comic is set up. In the last issue of Rann/Thanagar War Adam disappeared for a couple panels and then comes back. This book tells what happens to him when he was gone. I am enjoying the mystery that Starlin is setting up with the Aberrant Six. All we know at this point is that Strange and Hawkman are part of the group and somehow Synnar is connected. The subplot fits in the special, and leaves we desiring to see what will come of this group.
Other than that this issue is a trip through time showing important events in Strange's past and future. The way the book is structured lets you feel the confusion that Adam is going through, and gives you a strong connection to the character. The art is a little more cartoony than what I would prefer for a story like this, but there is no major faults in the art. I just tend to prefer a more realistic pencil for cosmic stories of this vein.
This issue tells a complete story that fits between the pages of another mini-series, while at the same time laying pieces down for a future story. Starlin is at his best here, and I plan to enjoy this ride for as long as I can.
