Proving, once again, that Jeff Parker is the future of Marvel, this book was sublime and beautiful.
Of
course Hardman deserves a lot of credit for this too. The writing set
it up, but the art truly gave a sense of awe and wonder to Namor's
kingdom, a cliche that many writers and comic artist have tried to do
over the last 60 or so years and so few have actually delivered on. I
loved the city panorama almost as much as I loved the walk through the
garden. It truly was majestic.
As for the story, it moved slowly, but
deliberately. I like that the Agents actually have a good relationship
with Namor, instead of the usual one. This issue moved gracefully, as
though underwater. I think it was a stroke of genius to give Namora a
small piece of happiness. It really fleshed her out as person. The
fight scene did seem a little tacked on, but what it resulted in was
incredibly worth it.
Beautiful book.
