Wow. I think this was my favorite story so far in Blackest night.
It
didn't have a lot of "Oh, shi-" moments, but it really had an
atmosphere that I think the main story is lacking.
Obviously, Robinson
wanted it to feel like a Jason-esque horror movie, but just because
something is well established, doesn't mean it isn't incredibly
effective.
I love how we didn't see Kal until it was with a character
that would actually survive. It seemed really appropriate, in that, how
would anyone know how he looked like if they're all dead?
I also really
loved the stuff with the "color" vision. (YOU come up with a better
term and I'll use it in my review of the next issue) There was
something incredibly awesome about seeing the five color Supes coming
at you, about ready to crush your skull.
The art was great and the
writing was very solid.
