You had me at "Fuck if I care. How's my spongebob look?" Mr Hester in his first issue has hooked me onto a great new world faster than anything I read since I picked up the first trade of the Walking Dead a couple years back. The story begins introducing us to an quirky cast of lovable characters. A fat middle aged man in a cheesy devil suit doing magic tricks, the circus owner and his wolf-boy assistant, Pig the strong woman, the face painting tattooed man, and our titular hero Golly, a fix-it man, gopher for the traveling circus. Soon Golly discovers that he has been chosen to fight the forces of darkness on Earth that weren't told that the apoclypse was cancelled and need to be stopped if the human race wants to survive. It's a great setup and Hester succeeds beautifully in making us like these characters and understand their complex relationships with quick witty dialog and with help from dynamiclly drawn scenes from artist brook turner. It's hilarous, unique, and I can't wait to see what happens next. A great first issue.

Great call with the "Fuck if I care..." I forgot about that part when I was writing my review. It made me laugh out loud (which I rarely do reading comics). Nice review.
