No Hero #1 (OF 7)

Author: Warren Ellis
Artist: Juan Jose Ryp
Cover Artist: Juan Jose Ryp

Price: $3.99

No Hero is a beautiful book. Well scripted, and the art is top notch, some of the best I am reading today. I want to enjoy it, I really do. I picked up issue 0 (in June) and enjoyed it. I was looking forward to the first issue more then I would have thought possible (Given the aborted finish to Black Summer). However, the four months between issue 0 and issue 1 caused me to have stopped caring so much. In fact at the end of Issue 1 I couldn't think of a single character that I actually cared about. While I wanted to like the book, and did love the art, I have no need for this book in my life. I have so many other good comics in my life I cannot imagine why I need to spend 3.99 on this book.

Loved the art, could care less about any character in the book and am not willing to wait two years for an 7 parts of a story to gel, only to find out that the ending was no better then the beginning. Maybe the trade will read well. Maybe my problem is that I am so pissed off at authors/artists who can't keep up with a regular schedule that I won't cut them any slack. Whatever the reason No Hero is off my pull list.
