Only 42 pulls? You have to be kidding me. You know you are looking for a good indie book. This one from IDW is a 10!
The story is about a family forced to resettle after the patriarch, a counselor, is killed by a student who was looking for something. The family relocates some distance away and is learning how to start their life all over when the youngest boy stumbles on some magic at the mansion they are living at. Much of the story is still shrouded in mystery but the drama has been building with every issue. The protagonist is a compelling freak that only Joe Hill, or maybe his father Stephen King, could develop.
The art is compelling and this month’s cover literally jumps off the book at you. Buy this book. It is only five issues into the story pick up the back issues and enter the world of Lovecraft. You will be glad you did.
Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
This series has been great. My girlfriend turned me on to this series and it's risen higher in my stack each month. Joe Hill, son of horror legend Stephen King is proving that he can transition from prose to comics with ease. The art by Gabriel Rodriguez may be a little unusual, but I'd already come to appreciate it during his work on the comic adaptation of Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show. It may come off cartoony at first, but he shows emotions and action so well, that once you've gotten used to it, it really helps tell the story. Hop on board this book now, as the movie rights have already been scooped up, and this will be the first series of at least three for this title. 5 stars easy.
