I enjoyed this spin-off issue more than I've enjoyed Fables of Jack Of Fables since the end of the war storyline.  Great premise, and well executed.  It definitely stays within the voice of the original series (both writing wise and artwise), but doesn't feel like the writer is apeing Willlingham's style.

Good review. Agreed except the art felt a little too cartoony for me in certain places. The Fables art has always been a little cartoony but this went too far, especially in the panels with the animal fables. Great first issue though.

P.S.--I think the current Fables arc, Witches, is just as strong as it was before the war ended. It got back on track pretty quick after the TERRIBLE crossover event.

@USPUNX: I agree that the Withces arc is really good.  (I apologize for the delayed response...been on vacation for a bit.)
