More fantastic artwork, and great dialog from the Manapul/Johns team; this book focusing on the friendship between Tim Drake and Superboy. This issue gives you a much clearer epicture of what Drake is thinking than you're getting in Red Robin. So it's nice that this week we get the action side (Red Robin #5) and the emotional context of this issue.
With the pace of Blackest Night right now, it's great to pick up a Johns title that's relaxed and insightful without that insight being dire knowledge.
Manapul's Krypto is also one of the most beautiuflly rendered super pets I've seen.

@Coltrane68: You do not need, in my opinion, any other knowledge of the DC Universe. I knew almost nothing about Superboy when this series started, and, though I'm enjoying this run, I don't really have a desire to go back and check out any of his backstory, I'm reading this as if he's a new DC character. I mean, it helps to have a basic understanding of Superman and Lex Luthor, but I feel that anyone who's ever turned on a TV in the past five decades probably knows at least enough about those two to get by.
And, thus far, there are no ties to Blackest Night. Though this issue ties a bit into the RIP/Reborn events in Batman. But just a bit.

It sounds as though I should be reading this. Does this require general knowledge of the rest of the DC universe? Any tie-ins to Blackest Night (which I plan to read in trades)?
