Teen Titans #57

Written by Sean McKeever
Art & Cover by Eddy Barrows & Rob Hunter

Size: 32 Pages

Price: $2.99

As much as I disliked the previous issue and questioned McKeever's vision for Teen Titans, this issue blew me away with its execution and tone.  It probably helps that this issue focuses on a character, Ravager, that I find much more interesting and appealing than Kid Devil (Could he be more of a whiner?) and McKeever lets Ravager kick ass too.  Shades of her dad with how she took on the Terror Titans on her own.  And there's no denying that a good explosion can be a great way to end an issue on a cliffhanger.

Only two things really bugged me about the issue: the art wasn't anything special -- those Cassie/Tim scenes didn't look too great -- and the whole Cassie/Tim conversation wasn't that great either.  Now to be fair I didnt read the entire the Wondergirl mini-series, so I don't know much about Cassie outside of the issues of Teen Titans, but McKeever really seems to have gone to the extremes with her, really emphasizing her trying to distance herself from Tim over everything else (including concern for her teammates).  First and foremost they were friends before they started consoling each other and getting involved in a relationship -- I'd think that would carry more precedent -- instead she's just basically been a bitch in these issues and I really hope this facet of her character doesn't last.

I read the whole WonderGirl series, but I don't recall them touching on the Tim relationship until the last issue, and it was more her avoiding it I think.  But I can't remember.  The storyline for that book revolved around the Female Furies.
