My love affair with Judd Winick started the day I finished reading Pedro and Me. While I was late to the party on Exiles and Green Lantern, I got every issue of Green Arrow and The Outsiders he wrote. As a result, I was looking forward to the relaunch of Titans #1.
This book had Titans of new and old. From Nightwing battling with the Biker Gang to Donna Troy with Kyle Rayner. Some guest appearances from The Teen Titans and Batman and how can you go wrong with that. For some, seeing Trigon wasn't a surprise but then again I haven't read the Titans stories of the '80's.
I like that the story had tidbits of each character. You didn't necessarily need to have prior knowledge of each character. This was the perfect set up issue to start the series.
However, I did not like the art on certain pages. Specifically where Starfire was about to being attacked with the monster. I also did not like where in the beginning it said part two when it is a first issue.
Titans #1 made me want to read the stories from the 80's. I am looking forward to the next issue.
