By the time I figured out that Red Hulk was Doc Samson, I realized that he really wasn't. Loeb's writing was so transparent, even I was able to see what he was doing. McGuiness is talented, a given, but like McFarlane I think his best stuff is behind him, e.g., early issues of Deadpool Vol. 1. Nice review in that you used very appropriate references to JMS's Thor and the "DeFalco-like slugfest". If you want to see the Hulk as he should be, pick up the Original Sin Prologue of Wolverine Origins.

i loved this issue and can't wait for the next one.  is it just me, or does it seem way longer between issues of this book as opposed to other titles?  grrr...  argh.
