This is a positively Ellisian turn from Garth Ennis -- a short $1.00 vignette where the world starts to come apart at the seams, and neighbors start tearing into each other's flesh with the voracity of a George Romero sequence. I have no idea where this is going to go, or if there is even a plot, but we're given a cypher of a main character dropped in the nascent rumblings of madness, left to survive a coming hellscapeitude. Ennis is concise -- as always -- and the visuals by Avatar hand Jacen Burrows are detailed and surreal enough (in that Avatar house style) to get the story where it needs to be going. After all, it starts with a dude dropping a chunk of spine and ribcage on the counter of a greasy spoon. Who can't get behind that?
