This is my first issue of Ghost Rider ever. I picked it up because of Jason Aaron's awesome run on ... well, every single thing I have read of his ... and this book didn't disappoint at all, it turned out to be the best book in my stack this week!
I saw it advertised as "Grindhouse Comics" and that's a perfect description for this. It's just flat-out fun, supernatural comic book action that doesn't take itself too seriously. There is a line in the book: "Cycle Nurses, go!" which pretty much sums up the tone of the book for me. Avoid this book if you're looking for something realistic & gritty like Scalped (but if you buy a book with a dude who has a flaming skull on the cover & expect realism -- I guess you're retarded) but if you want a good ride (no pun intended) with some flesh eating ghosts, slice & dice action & some funny/cool dialogue -- this book is for you.
My only small beef is the art. It's OK, and not distractingly bad, it just seems a little rushed & unfinished in places, but it doesn't detract from the story at all, it just isn't on the level of the writing.
I will definitely be hunting down the first issues of this arc & staying on board for as long as Aaron is around.
Cycle Nurses, Go!
Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 3 - Good
ill agree with you. when i first heard about the cycle nurses i thought that this arc was going to go down the toilet, but Aaron has an amazing talent to make it cool. i hope he stays around for a while.
