If someone told you before you bought a comic that half of the pages would be John Stewart fighting a purple Hulk clone, with a muppet on his shoulder -- would you have bought it? If you answered "yes", you would dig this comic. My answer would be "hell no" ...
I like action in comics as much as the next guy, but it's gotta a) be for a reason, and b) involve characters I either care about, or at the very least, know who they are.
Half the book was a fight I couldn't care less about, but the other half was pretty good actually. I like the three versions of "enemies" the big three had to contend with. But ... for $2.99, I want 22 pages of story worth reading & art that looks decent. Is that too much to ask for? The art in the back-up was pretty nice, but Bagley's art seemed unfinished.
I can accept that these weekly comics won't be on the same standard as monthlies, especially art-wise, week to week, sometimes the art will be average and look rushed (or if it's Countdown, 4/5 issues, the art will look rushed & horrible) ... but why are these comics full price? If we're not getting the same product as we usually get, it shouldn't be the same price -- simple.
One good thing these weekly comics are good for is to read em' early in your stack (I read em' first) -- it makes all your other comics look so much better by comparison.
Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
22 pages of paper cost the same, whether it's got art you like or art you don't on it.
