Green Lantern #37

As if I wasn't excited enough for Blackest Night, Johns reminds me yet again what a master of his craft he is.  We see yet more of the seeds sewn along the way reassert themselves, with scenes calling back to the recent "Secret Origins" arc, among others.  And best of all, you know there are even more layers yet to be revealed.  I, for one, can't shake this feeling that the "price" to be a Blue Lantern is going to be something shocking and possibly horrible.  And what of the Guardians, certainly it's no secret that their proactiveness, or lack thereof, is almost always the cause of all the problems for the GL Corps.  But Hal Jordan has been down that road before, so surely it's not that cut and dry.  Sinestro warns that they will take his greatest love from him.  Flight?  Something deeper? Or is this just all a shell game.  We can be sure that Johns will pack years of story and emotions into his inevitable conclusion, which we get just a taste of here with a skirmish between four different "lights" in this issue, capped off by an ending that, although you could kind of see it coming, is the stuff Green Lantern dreams are made of.  Before this is done, the benefits and weakness of all the forms of light will be revealed (as they are with Red here, and at least teased with Blue), but the world those revelations will likely only be the beginning.  And that is exactly why we need to clone Geoff Johns and have him just write everything.
