well...it wasn't awful, right?

i mean, it's all setup. and while that's somewhat to be expected in a first issue, there wasn't a lot of push that really mattered to me. i won't say the story was confusing - even though i don't know all these demon-types, i got what was going on. but i didn't really care - that's the problem. the book starts without really giving the sort of human perspective that might make me more sympathetic towards a revolt. that said, the only really fun moment was the last page, when we see a variety of DCU characters being affected by the actions of hell.

the backup, with dr occult and the ghostly dibny detectives, was similar - a lot of setup, but not a lot of payoff.

i liked the art, and was close to giving it a 4; a little sketchy, but it fit well and looked pretty sharp.

ill probably try out issue 2, because things do seem on the verge of happening. but i'm a little more skeptical than i was. that said, i don't know why i thought this would be good either...

Yeah, I couldn't get into this at all.  When a guy called Satanus is giving a theological lecture on hope, I just want to laugh.  Also, you know your main story sucks when it has to be explained by dead people in a backup story.
