this has been a really enjoyable mini-series, and i think issue 5 has been the best one yet. ivory madison is really writing a very interesting story that gives you a clear impression of the huntress, highlighting the tragedies that has made her into such a grim character, and her determination to fight against those who have wronged her.
that makes it sound a touch melodramatic - the book is pretty well-grounded, and features both strong action and character moments.
this issue finally brings the bat-universe into the spotlight, and does it in a great fashion, tying in with the main story. bruce wayne is hosting a party for a bunch of mafia-types, using his civilian identity to get valuable info for crime-fighting. when the huntress crashes the party and ruins his plans (and gets in a fight with batgirl), batman gets pissed at both.
the next scene is the book's highlight, and it struck my fanboy sensibilities in just the right way. as bruce is about to take on the huntress, catwoman (in retro costume!) intervenes, and gives a wonderful monologue detailing batman's style of fighting, strengths, and weaknesses, ending with, "Now run. You can't beat him. Trust me."
a great moment - madison has catwoman's voice down. the book also ends with a nice cliffhanger for the final issue (in two weeks) to sort out. more excellent work from ivory madison - i'll definitely be looking for her next book.
Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good
Man, I loved this series from the beginning, but the catwoman scene just knocked it out of the park.
