I’m really starting to fall in love with this book which is appropriate since at its core, beneath all the alien gods, super-heroics, and other assorted zaniness this is a love story. A rather realistic love story at that, at least from emotional point of view. Or perhaps honest would be better word to use. Regardless this is a terrific jumping on point after. The initial but necessary setup of the first 5 issues is done with and we finally get to the long promised heart of what has been promised from the beginning with this series: what happens when a Jack Kirby-esque God falls in love with a fairly average girl from Jersey. There are a lot of little moments that will ring true in this issue to anyone who has been in a relationship before while the big set piece of the issue is entertaining even if somewhat familiar. This is a great book that really brings a wonderfully human edge to a group of beings not far removed from the Fourth World. Any fans of shows like Buffy, books like the Dresden Files, or comics like Scott Pilgrim should definitely give this image ongoing a look see.

Highly Recommended.
