Absolutely my favorite book this week.
Even though this is a titled a Wolverine comic, it's really more about Fantomex and Marvel Boy, Noh-Varr. Two Grant Morrison creations that have more similarities than I realized. On that level alone, it was an interesting look at some of Morrison's work. His characters are often needlessly complex, yet always interesting and cool. Not really sure how he pulls that off. But even so, it's not Morrison who penned this issue. The writer is Jason Aaron, who I will now be watching from now on.
What really put this book over the top, for me, however is the exchange between Fantomex and Marvel Boy about Weapon XVI, aka Allgod. A mind-controlling, living religion, virus that attacks the faith reserves. After the two "heroes" compare notes about why they're both immune to religion, Fantomex delivers the best comic-book line I've read in years: "I always knew atheists would someday save the world."
Classic.
