I thought this new story arc with Hughie had potential and if it is written the right way it could turn out to be very good.  If I had a complaint it would be that the pace is a bit slow, maybe it's just due to the fact that this is a set up issue but either way it drug on to me.  Now, if you haven't read any of The Boys let me first caution you with a warning that it is EXTREMELY mature in content and in it's art.  That said, many of my friends (mostly girl friends) are put off by the content, I however find it humorous...I think you need to be able to laugh at the darker side of life.  If however you enjoy movies like The Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction this may be the book for you.  So, if you are looking for a jumping on point this issue would be a good place to start.  I would also mention that it couldn't hurt to pick up the TP since this series tends to lean a bit on the backstory, you won't be lost by this issue but the trade would certainly would fill in any character gaps.  Either way this is not for the "average" CB reader, it really has a much "narrower" audience.
