This issue had what I was looking for: Super Science!
The story continues as did in the previous issue except Reed
Richards has returned and has a new toy. Seeing the Anti-Galactus suit was like
being slapped in the face with the reasons why I have long loved the Fantastic
Four. It is so big and so cool looking you just want to see it tear ass but
then I’m reminded even more of Richard’s genius. He stands before the ultimate
killing on a hunch that is his ex-girlfriend adding him on the ‘don’t kill
list’ and he’s right! Such bravery and self confidence can only exist in comic
books.
Then we have the Bush administration, Millar and Hitch
keeping things contemporary, I like it.
The later half of this book reminds me that Reed Richards is
not just a great scientist but also a great man and husband. He is polite and
steadfast in his rejection of Alyssa. And what can I say about the anniversary
dinner. We have romance and two displays of super science, the ring and the
time travel. So cool.
Johnny’s girlfriend is so feisty, when that whole situation hits the fan it
will be very interesting.
Finally we have Doom and boy does he look great!
Overall I think Millar and Hitch have done a good job with
this first arc. I was a little worried about how they were going to wrap it up
but overall I am pleased. For the most part I like the art. I think Ben and
Susan look the best, however I’m still attached to that Walt Simonson look on
Reed, but I’ll live.
