I'm not sure if I enjoyed this book. It was a short mini series with only 3 issues, something as the guys have said on the podcast recently is something of a rarity but I think it could have gone on longer.
I’m not sure I remember what happened in the earlier issues, and think I will go back and read it. While I miss the characters of Firefly, and then the awesomeness that was serenity I would like Wheddon to figure out what is next. I heard there were plans for 2 more films, if that’s not the case how about another TV series or perhaps even better let’s have a season 2 in the comics similar to Buffy and Angel.
The characters are great, it’s so good to see Walsh and Shepard brook but I feel, if my memory serves me right that the characters were just not as great as they had been in previous issues. And this is meant to be a kind of gap between Firefly (TV) and Serenity (Film) but nothing was really played on here. This was like a lost episode from season 1 or something.
I will re read it but I don't know if im missing something. Has Wheddon just dropped the ball a little or was I not paying close enough attention. I want the characters back, I love the whole crew but this didn’t give me that sensation. When you look at how well Wheddon is doing with continuing the adventures of his other characters, I wish we could say the same for Malcom, Jayne and the rest of the gang.
In summary: good but expected more.
