For months I wondered how Grant Morrison was going to bring Final Crisis to any kind of a satisfying conclusion. With Darkseid firmly in control and nearly all the superheroes broken, the situation seemed so bleak that it felt like any victory for the forces of good would seemed contrived. I figured that we would end up with some sort of cosmic resolution that would unsatisfyingly wipe the slate clean as if the last three issues of Final Crisis were just a dream.
After reading Batman #683, however, I realized that Morrison has assembled an impressive army of freewill to take on Darkseid's oppressive legions. Between the relentlessly hopeful Mr. Terrific and his OMAC armada, the anti-life-proof Mr. Miracle, the suddenly aware Nix Uotan, and now an unbreakable Batman equipped with a god-killing bullet, I almost feel bad for Darkseid.
