Jeremy Bastian has provided us with a true treasure trove with issue #1 of Cursed Pirate Girl. The story so far is about a governor's daughter, Apollonia, that crosses paths with the Cursed Pirate Girl, who is supposedly orphaned. She claims her father is a pirate that is still out as sea and dreams of finding him. She also partakes in battles during dreams and in turn, challenges hooligans on the beach, putting the skills she leans, to task. Apollonia begins to share an affinity for the pirate life and then, there's that ever present black parrot.
The graphic layout reminds
me of Luther Arkwright, though not anywhere near as wordy. The action isn't always bound to panels and portrays the era truthfully. There is so much beauty here, it's worth reading twice to make sure you catch everything. From the beautiful hand-stamped cover to the wonderful tale unfurling within, Olympian Publishing has cast off a wonderful book.
