The DC Universe is Geoff Johns' plaything.

Johns' ability to write surprisingly compelling characters, balance years of continuity and still keep a book fun and exciting is almost frightening.

Johns does it consistently across 4+ books each month! The man is a comics writing machine.

Who is Booster Gold, seriously?

Don't get me wrong, I love Booster & Beetle hanging out in JLI. Booster's bits in 52 were enjoyable. And none can hate a guy who stages an elaborate publicity stunts involving toothpaste, am I right?

But Booster Gold as a viable character- in his own series? Come on.

Well, God bless Geoff Johns.

Bless him, for I would love comic books a lot less if not for him. Johns saw the potential in a character that was intended to be a joke; in what could have easily been a throwaway series, and spun it into one of the best books being published right now.

An official Zero Hour tie-in! Brilliant!

I was nearly in tears at the various Blue Beetles acknowledging their legacies as they departed. The easy rapport of Booster Gold & Blue Beetle quickly recalls that old “Blue & Gold magic. Or Booster questioning Extant's (aka Hawk, aka Monarch) sudden change of heart. It all works in terms of plotting, character and is just...fun.

This isn't good comics. This is great comics.
