This was a fantastic character piece that examined the life and influences of Alura. Her struggle between who she was, before marrying Zor-El to how she changed after her marriage. Now with Zor-El dead, Alura is confused and unsure of her choices, holding on to her old self, and yet wanting to become a better person through her life with Zor-El - she is conflicted, and does what she thinks is best, and in actuality not the wisest of choices. Gates nails this issue and delivers an awesome mix of action and character development, I am have not heard of Matt Camp and being that this is my first experience of his work, it is great, especially the flash back scenes between Zor-El and Alura, that capture the relationship in a real and heart felt way. Both Gates and Camp care about these characters and it shows in this issue. This is a great jumping on point, if you are not reading this title. Jedi Rob
