Here it comes : I enjoyed Supergirl. I honestly have not been able to say that since #8 and the end of the Kandor storyline. It was n't my favorite book this week, but I was glad I picked it up and that they're finally finding the tone for this title.
The issue begins with an article written by Cat Grant (who could be a secret ID for Power Girl with the way she's drawn) titled "Why the World Doesn't Need Supergirl. SG sees this and gets a bit down on herself.
Cousin Clark shows up with some coffee and they discuss her coming up with a secret ID of her own. She discusses this with the Teen Titans and Robin mentions that Batman is "off the grid", nice little R.I.P. reference here. Finally she talks to Lana Lang and Lana sets up Kara as her niece Linda Lang.
I really like this direction. People are complaining that she should be a Kent but the Kents seem to have enough "relatives" popping up out of nowhere and that can get suspicious.
I picked up this issue because of the new creative team of Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle and I was definitely not disappointed. I'm assuming this takes place just before Final Crisis because they criticize her costunme and in FC she's working on a re-design, but I'm not a continuity guy so I won't dwell on that.
This was a great jumping on issue before the New Krypton story begins and I'm definitely looking forward to that.
Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good
I hear good stuff about this. I'm tempted to pick it up but...
